What we collect
Written from the code rather than from a template, so every claim below can be checked. It is a first pass: the legal apparatus around it (lawful basis, your rights, how to complain) is still to be added.
The short version
We measure how this site is used, and by default we do it without storing anything on your device and without being able to tell one visit from another across days. If you accept analytics, we can link your visits over time and record how pages are used, which tells us what to fix. Declining keeps the anonymous measurement and nothing else.
Your account and your reports are a separate matter from this page, and nothing about them is shared with an analytics provider. That is set out below.
Before you answer the banner
Measurement runs, and it is anonymous in a specific and checkable sense rather than as a figure of speech:
- Measurement writes nothing to your device: no cookie, no local storage, no identifier of any kind. The cookies the site does set are listed below, and none of them measures anything
- Your IP address is discarded when the event is received and is never stored
- You are counted using a value derived on the server that changes every day, so the same browser is not recognisable tomorrow and is not recognisable on any other site at any time
- No profile is created for you
- Nothing is recorded
If you accept
Two things change. An identifier is stored in your browser, so repeat visits join up and we can see that the person who read a guide last week ordered a report today. And page use is recorded (mouse movement, clicks, scrolling) so a form that people abandon can be watched rather than guessed at.
- Recording never runs in your account or on any page showing your reports. It is limited to the public pages of this site
- Everything typed into any field is masked before it leaves your browser and is never received by us in the first place
- You can change your mind at any time, using the link at the bottom of this page
What is never collected, in either mode
- Anything you type into the order form: the property, the developer, your email. That is a purchase you have not made yet, and it has no business in an analytics product
- The contents of any report: what is built on your site, what you have paid, observations on your building. That is your position in a conversation with your developer
- Your IP address
The cookies that are not measurement
A few cookies are set because a feature needs them. They are ours, they are read by this site alone, they are never sent to an advertising network, and none of them counts or profiles anything.
- Your session, once you sign in: it is what keeps you signed in from one screen to the next, and it is cleared when you sign out
- The sign-in form itself: the address you typed, held for fifteen minutes so that the second step of the form knows who is at it
- One bit saying that this browser has signed in at some point, so the site can offer you your account instead of a sign-in link. It is the only one here that a script on the page can read, it carries nothing else, and it grants nothing
- An agent's code, for 90 days, if you arrived on a link an agent gave you. It says which agent introduced you and nothing whatever about you. If you become a client it is recorded against your account, because their share of what you pay depends on it, and the section below says that we tell you when it applies
Who processes this
PostHog, on servers in the European Union, for product analytics. Google Analytics, for audience measurement that lines up with search reporting. It captures page views only, and it does not load at all until you accept.
Neither receives anything from your account. The service itself runs on our own infrastructure in Europe.
If you become a client
Your account is governed by the agreement you sign, not by this page. Two things are worth stating here anyway because they are unusual and they are commitments:
- Where an agent introduced you, we pay them a share of what you pay us, and we tell you so rather than letting you discover it. An agent can see the status of your property only if you have given permission for that property, and they can never see the contents of a report
- Photographs of your property are stored on a content network and served only through signed links that expire. The storage is not publicly listable
How long any of it is kept
Analytics events are retained for the period set in our PostHog unit, currently 84 months, and session recordings for 30 days. Data held about you as a client is governed by your agreement.
